The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions has appointed a new executive to lead its regulation sector, the federal regulator said Friday.
Effective July 27, Mark White is to become assistant superintendent of its regulation sector, which includes responsibility for areas such as legislation and approvals, capital, accounting and research, actuarial, private pension plans, legal services and the international advisory group. He succeeds Robert Hanna, who is retiring.
White joined OSFI in April 2008 as senior director, capital, accounting and research division. Prior to that, he was at RBC Capital Markets for nearly seven years in several roles, including managing director and global head of the strategic transactions group. Before RBC, he was a partner at Ernst & Young.
White currently represents OSFI on the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and is a member of the policy development group of that committee. He is also a member of the Auditing and Assurance Standards Oversight Council.
