Oricia Smith is taking the lead at Toronto-based Sun Life Global Investments (Canada) Inc. as president, SLGI Asset Management Inc.
Smith is also senior vice-president, investment solutions, Sun Life Canada.
Smith joined Sun Life in 2016 as vice-president of the International Investment Centre (IIC) where she oversaw the development and governance of more than $150 billion in assets on behalf of Sun Life and its clients. The following year she become senior managing director and head of the IIC, product development and analytics for SLC Management.
“I am confident that Oricia’s experience positions her well to lead the company to new heights,” said Jacques Goulet, president, Sun Life Canada, in a release. “In addition to her passion for building diverse, equitable and inclusive teams, Oricia is active in the investment industry and an advocate for empowering women as investors.”
Smith was named interim president of the division in October 2020, following the departure of Jordy Chilcott.
“As the first female president of SLGI Asset Management Inc., I am proud to be leading a business that has the power to affect society by helping people save for their retirement and achieve lifetime financial security,” Smith said in a release.
Prior to joining Sun Life, Smith spent more than 17 years at Invesco Ltd. She began her career in the investment banking division at TD Securities Inc.
