National Bank of Canada has appointed Michael Denham as vice-chairman, commercial banking and financial markets, the Montreal-based bank announced Wednesday.
As part of his mandate in the newly created position, Denham will act as a strategic advisor to management and contribute to businesses of all sizes across the country, the release said.
Denham has over 30 years of industry experience at a variety of organizations and has previously served in a number of leadership roles. Prior to his appointment, Denham was president and chief executive officer of the Business Development Bank of Canada since 2015.
He will join the bank on Sept. 7.
“Michael plays a key role in the Canadian business community,” said Laurent Ferreira, chief operating officer at National Bank, in the release.
“His extensive experience, leadership skills and knowledge of the corporate world will be huge assets for National Bank.”
