Luc Bertrand is rejoining National Bank of Canada (TSX:NA) in the newly created position of vice chairman, the bank said Tuesday.
Bertrand, who will join the Montreal-based bank on February 7, will report to Louis Vachon, president and CEO.
“Luc Bertrand is well respected in the business community having, among other things, consolidated Canada’s international standing in the derivatives market when he was with Montreal Exchange Inc., thereby enabling businesses and individuals to expand the scope of their financial strategies to promote growth. I am confident that Mr. Bertrand will make a tremendous contribution to the Financial Group’s development,” stated Vachon.
Bertrand was president and CEO of Montreal Exchange Inc. from 2000 to 2009. He has also served on several boards of directors and industry committees and, from 1998 to 2000, held a senior position at National Bank Financial Group.
He will be responsible for developing and maintaining relations with corporate, institutional and government clients in Canada. He will also act as a strategic advisor to management, particularly on matters pertaining to government relations and derivatives regulations.
