The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association announced today that Karsten Moller has been appointed senior managing director and head of SIFMA London and Asia.
Based in London, he will lead SIFMA’s European effort. Additionally, Moller will oversee SIFMA’s efforts in Asia, specifically providing management support and direction to the Asia Securities Industry Financial Markets Association, a recently formed organization that is associated with SIFMA. He will work with his colleagues to represent SIFMA’s members around the globe on issues such as market development, cross border trading and market regulation.
Moller joins SIFMA after a long career in the financial industry that includes 15 years at Goldman Sachs, most recently as co-head of the capital structure group in investment banking in the firm’s London office. He will report directly to SIFMA co-CEOs Micah Green and Marc Lackritz and will be a member of SIFMA’s senior management team.

Karsten will undoubtedly be extremely effective in this important role.”
Moller held a number of positions at Goldman Sachs around the world, including head of debt capital markets coverage in the U.S., head of fixed income in Germany and co-head of European debt capital markets in London. He was elected partner and managing director in 1996. Prior to working at Goldman Sachs, Moller held positions at Merrill Lynch, J.P. Morgan and Shell International. He holds B.A. and M.S. degrees in political science from the University of Copenhagen and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School from which he graduated with honors. A Danish citizen, Moller currently resides in London.
