MFC Global Investment Management has named David Hussey as head of pan-European equities.
Hussey, who will be based in MFC Global’s London office, will oversee the team managing equity investing in Europe, including the developed markets of Western Europe and the emerging markets in Eastern Europe. He will report to Steve Tyson, chief investment officer, MFC Global Investment Management (Europe).
“David brings to MFC Global a wealth of experience and a solid track record in managing European equities,” Tyson said. “His appointment rounds out our European Equity Team in London. We now have significantly strengthened our capability in this important area.”
Gregor Rapprich, who was with Bank of Butterfield, and William Hamlyn, most recently with Citigroup Asset Management, joined the team earlier this year as portfolio manager and senior investment analyst, respectively. Also on the team is investment analyst David Dugdale who has been with MFC Global for more than four years.
Hussey joins MFC Global from Barclays Wealth Management where he had been head of portfolio management. While at Barclays he had been responsible for managing £6 billion in European, UK and global equities, and managed a team of portfolio managers and investment analysts.
He previously worked for Coopers and Lybrand, Schroder Investment Management and J P Morgan Investment Management. Hussey graduated from University College London, and he is a Chartered Accountant and member of the UK Society of Investment Professionals.
MFC Global Investment Management is the global investment management group of Manulife Financial, with offices in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong, and throughout Southeast Asia. MFC Global has more than $230 billion in assets under management.
