Liquidnet Canada announced that Ken Hight has joined the firm as managing director.

Hight joins the firms from E*Trade Financial Corp where, since 2005, he served as executive vice president and was responsible for the management of the business’s institutional equity business. Prior to that, he spent five years as the first chief executive officer and president of ITG Canada.

At Liquidnet, he will report to Robert Young, chief operating officer of Liquidnet Holdings, the US-based parent of Liquidnet Canada and be responsible for expanding Liquidnet’s market share, introducing product innovations to the Canadian market, and growing its staff and resources.

The firm reports that as of year-end 2007 it has 192 members trading Canadian equities, and “We believe Ken is the right person to fully realize the opportunities to further open Canadian liquidity for domestic and institutional traders worldwide.”
