On Tuesday, March 2, Vancouver Island-based credit union Island Savings applauded the hard work of its 375 staff members at its annual Night of Stars celebration. This year’s theme: a tropical vacation, well-earned after a year of turbulent financial markets.
“Night of Stars is the heart of our corporate culture,” says Rhonda Hittinger, vp, human resources. “It’s a celebration of member service, professional growth and personal milestones.”
“Island Savings performed well in 2008, and we owe that to our employees. This is one of the ways we thank them for all their work. We’ve hosted annual staff celebrations for over 22 years and, like Island Savings, the event just keeps getting bigger and better,” Hittinger adds.
This year, 22 staff members were recognized as Top Performers of the Year, while 11 staff were celebrated for their educational achievements. Brentwood won ”Branch of the Year,” with Mill Bay winning “Insurance Office of the Year.”
With a network of 14 branches, Island Savings has 40,000 members, 375 employees, and assets over $1.5 billion.
