
Each week, we summarize notable moves across the financial industry.
- John McKinlay has been named president and CEO of Centurion, effective March 31. McKinlay brings nearly 30 years of experience to the role, most recently as CEO of LaSalle Investment Management Canada. He’s also held senior roles at Bentall Kennedy (now Bentall GreenOak) and GE Capital Real Estate. Current president and CEO Greg Romundt, who founded the real estate investing firm in 2003, will transition to the role of executive chairman.
- George Wilmot has joined Canada Life as managing director, tax and estate planning after nearly a decade with CI Global Asset Management, most recently as vice-president, head of tax, retirement and estate planning. Wilmot has more than two decades of experience in the industry, and previously held tax and estate planning roles with Mackenzie Financial Services and Invesco Canada.
- Kevin Shubley has been appointed as senior vice-president, head of advisory experience and growth, with Richardson Wealth Ltd. He joined the firm a year ago as VP business strategy & analysis. Shubley previously held senior roles with Gluskin Sheff and TD Bank, and has more than 30 years of industry experience.
- Jason Senio has joined Raymond James Ltd. as a senior investment advisor in its Edmonton office. He comes from TD Wealth Private Investment, where he spent over 17 years. Before that he was an investment advisor with RBC Dominion Securities.
- Vicki Cook and her team have moved to Manulife Wealth as a portfolio manager from Ventum Financial, which she joined in July 2024. Cook has 20 years of industry experience, including eight years with Echelon Wealth Partners as a portfolio manager and investment advisor. She has also worked at Dundee Goodman Private Wealth, Macquarie Group and Canaccord Financial.
- Jason Chuchman has joined ScotiaMcLeod as a senior wealth advisor and portfolio manager. Chuchman comes from RBC Dominion Securities Inc, where he spent more than 15 years.
- Caroline Vermette has been appointed senior vice-president and CFO of the Public Sector Pension Investment Board. She has more than two decades of experience in financial leadership roles, and was most recently senior VP, internal audit, at National Bank Canada. Alexandre Roy has been appointed senior vice-president and chief risk officer. Roy joined PSP Investments in 2007, and was most recently senior managing director, total fund management.
- Timothy Hodgson has stepped down as chair from the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) to run as a Liberal candidate in the federal election. Hodgson has served as chair of the organization since its formation in 2023, and also the chair of Hydro One. He was also a board member of the Property and Casualty Insurance Compensation Corp., Qohash, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, among others. Miranda Hubbs, chair of the governance committee and independent board member since 2023, has been appointed as chair. Hubbs sits on several boards. She retired in 2011 from McLean Budden, where she was executive vice-president and managing director.
- The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) has announced new members of its independent Investor Advisory Panel. They are Rozanne Reszel, former president and CEO of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund; Jacqueline Sanz, managing director responsible for the Canadian Risk and Compliance practice at consulting firm Protiviti; Gail Henderson, an associate professor at Queen’s University Faculty of Law; and Nathan Shaheen, a partner at Bennett Jones LLP with expertise in international fraud and complex financial crimes.
