Each week, we summarize notable moves across the financial industry.

  • Jacqueline Sanjuas has been appointed global head of financial crime risk management at TD Bank Group, succeeding Herb Mazariegos, senior vice-president, financial crime risk management, who will be leaving the bank. Sanjuas, who joined TD in January 2024 and will continue in her role as U.S. Bank Secrecy Act officer at TD, has more than 20 years of experience in compliance and risk management. Stephen Joyce has been named interim head of financial crime risk management for TD’s Canadian and international operations (non-U.S.), reporting to Sanjuas. Joyce will continue in his role as vice-president, financial crime risk management, transformation delivery and enablement.
  • Miles Clyne has joined Precision Wealth Management as a wealth advisor. Clyne, who became a portfolio manager with Q Wealth Partners in 2022, has more than a decade of experience in portfolio management and financial planning, including with Leede Financial Inc. and Raymond James Ltd.
  • Jackie Porter has joined iA Private Wealth as a mutual fund advisor and financial planner. She was previously an advisor and financial planner with Carte Wealth Management Inc. for more than 25 years.
  • Eli Yufest has been named executive director of the Canadian ETF Association (CETFA). He brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing strategy, analytics and business leadership to the organization.
  • Terri Holowath has been appointed as board chair of Baker Tilly in Canada. She has more than 30 years of experience in the professional services industry, and has been managing partner at Baker Tilly in Calgary since 2010.
  • Richter, a Montreal-based accounting and financial services firm, has appointed six new partners. They include Sarah Benammar, who’s been with Richter for 12 years, most recently as vice-president, tax; Matthew Fantauzzi, who joined Richter in January after 12 years at EY; Dominique Loiseau, who has 14 years of experience with Richter, most recently as a vice-president; Derek Mior, who has more than 16 years of industry experience, including five years as vice-president, U.S. tax at Richter; Shahaf Ozgaon, who’s been with Richter 11 years as a vice-president; and Luciano Renda, who’s been with Richter 12 years, most recently in the role of vice-president, transaction advisory services.

In memoriam

  • Fraser Sutherland, founder of the Sutherland Investment Group, has died. Sutherland, a portfolio manager and investment advisor who recently moved his team to Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management after more than 20 years with CIBC Wood Gundy, is remembered for his dedication to his clients and team, as well as to the Ottawa community.
