  • RF Capital Group Inc. appointed Francis C. Baillargeon as chief financial officer, effective Nov. 18. Baillargeon replaced Tim Wilson, who became the CFO of Peoples Group in August. Baillargeon spent the last four years as CFO of FLO EV Charging. Prior to that, he was an executive in corporate development and strategy at TD Bank.
  • Christine Poole and Wendy Sanita will join Davis Rea as part of its acquisition of GlobeInvest Capital Management. Poole, CEO of GlobeInvest, joined the firm in 2009. Sanita, chief compliance officer of GlobeInvest, joined in 1996.
  • Peter Van Meerbergen succeeded Chuck Hamilton as CEO of Educators Financial Group after Hamilton spent 13 years in the role. Van Meerbergen has been in regional and district vice-president roles at TD Bank and RBC, as well as vice-president of TD Asset Management and TD Insurance. After leaving TD, he was an executive vice-president at BridgePoint Financial Group and, most recently, executive vice-president at Kawartha Credit Union in Peterborough, Ont.
  • The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan appointed Kevin Kerr as executive managing director of the new portfolio solutions department effective Wednesday. The department will integrate value creation and portfolio management capabilities across Ontario Teachers’ private asset groups. Kerr has invested in infrastructure at Ontario Teachers’ for over 13 years and previously led the infrastructure team in the Americas. He has also held senior investment roles at Bastion Infrastructure Group and OMERS.
  • The Portfolio Management Association of Canada announced its board of directors for 2024-2025, including three new members: Ian Filderman, president of ATB Investment Management Inc., Marie-Claude Jalbert, chief financial officer and head of business operations at Jarislowsky, Fraser Limited and Paul Spagnolo, chief operating officer & chief compliance officer at Foyston Gordon & Payne Inc.
