The Investment Funds Institute of Canada announced the winners of the third annual Journalism Awards Program at its annual conference in Toronto on Thursday. The program honours journalists across Canada for excellence in personal finance reporting.

The grand prize award for the English program was awarded to Richard Bloom from the Globe and Mail for his article “Ethical funds change with the times”.

Second place was awarded to Anne Papmehl of Forum Magazine for “Investing with a Conscience”. Diana Cawfield and Rudy Luukko, also from Forum Magazine, received third place for their article, “The Golden Years”.

In the French program, Stephanie Grammond of La Presse was awarded the grand prize for her article, “Les investisseurs éthiques sur le champ de bataille…social”. Jean-Maurice Bouchard from Finance Magazine received the second place for his article, “Actionnariat des employ”. Third prize was awarded to Stéphanie Desjardins, also of Finance Magazine, for her article “Votre gestionnaire de fonds triche-t-il?”

“As always with this program, IFIC’s goal is to recognize and encourage journalistic efforts to educate the investing public in the field of investment funds,” said Tom Hockin, IFIC’s president and CEO, in a news release.
