Rice Financial Group Inc. today announced the appointment of Cheryl Hamilton as senior vp, compliance. Hamilton will lead Rice’s compliance team and provide strategic direction to the firm’s advisor network on mutual fund, fixed term, and life insurance products and services.
“Cheryl is a tremendous addition to our executive management team,” says Dave Velanoff, president and CEO of Winnipeg-based Rice. “Compliance is a vital component of the financial services industry and we are extremely excited to have someone with Cheryl’s knowledge and experience join RFG.”
With a career that spans more than 30 years in the industry, Hamilton has held a number of executive positions in the mutual fund, investment dealer, and life insurance sectors. Her background includes five years of executive, operations and compliance responsibilities with one of Canada’s leading Managing General Agencies, and has served as chief compliance officer for two of Canada’s recognized mutual fund dealers.
Hamilton has served as past director of the Federation of Canadian Independent Deposit Brokers and she currently lends her expertise to a number of industry committees and associations — acting as the current vice chairwoman of the Central Regional Council for the Mutual Fund Dealers Association and the Association of Canadian Compliance Professionals. She also holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
