Indexing firm FTSE Russell has named Paul Bowes as its first-ever country head for Canada.

Bowes, who will be based in Toronto, joins FTSE Russell from Refinitiv where he was most recently director of benchmarks, with responsibility for fixed income indices and benchmarks.

Before joining Refinitiv (which was formerly a unit of Thomson Reuters) he was at the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX). He has a BSc degree from Queen’s University and an MBA from Western University.

In his newly-created role at FTSE Russell, Bowes will oversee its fixed income market data business and its efforts to expand its multi-asset benchmark and index-based derivatives businesses.

“I am excited to have Paul join us to help lead our FTSE Russell business in Canada to the next level of growth by fostering a greater sense of partnership with our wide range of Canadian clients,” said Waqas Samad, CEO of FTSE Russell.

“In leading our team in Canada, Paul will ensure that we are delivering the best of FTSE Russell’s global capabilities to support the Canadian investment community.”
