Toronto-based Foresters Financial has named Alvin Sharma as its new global chief financial officer (CFO), the international financial services provider announced Friday.
Sharma will take up his new role on Sept. 17. He will be based in Toronto.
Sharma has experience in the life insurance and asset management industries in the U.S., the U.K., and Canada. Toronto-based Echelon Financial Holdings Inc. announced Thursday the resignation of Sharma as CFO.
“Alvin’s deep background in the financial industry makes him a tremendous asset to Foresters. I have full confidence he will provide timely and insightful counsel. We’re excited to have Alvin join the Foresters team and participate in our future growth,” said Jim Boyle, president and CEO at Foresters Financial, in a news release.
Echelon has launched a search for Sharma’s. In the meantime, Echelon vice president of finance and corporate controller, Patrick Espeut, will act as interim CFO.
“Alvin has been a key member of our management team during Echelon’s recent growth, and we would like to thank him for all his contributions,” said Serge Lavoie, president and CEO at Echelon, in a statement. “We will miss him greatly, and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
