A slew of celebrities with a passion for exotic cars are set to gather in Toronto for a good cause on Friday, as the 2009 Rally for Kids with Cancer kicks off.

The second annual event, taking place Sept. 25 and 26 in Toronto, involves a scavenger hunt in which participants, driving exotic cars, use clues to find their way to a series of “pit stops” at high profile venues around the city.

The event raises money for the SickKids Foundation, in an effort to end childhood cancers. Last year, the event raised more than $1 million.

In order to participate in the scavenger hunt, teams or individuals are required to raise a minimum of $25,000. At a cocktail reception on Friday, qualifiers will have the opportunity to draft a participating celebrity to act as their driver for the scavenger hunt. The team that raises the most money will have the highest drafting position, making them first to select a celebrity navigator.

Participating celebrities in this year’s event include Adam Rodríguez, an actor from television series CSI: Miami, James Kyson Lee, an actor in television series Heroes, Michael “Pinball” Clemons, CEO of the Toronto Argonauts, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, an actress from Bold and the Beautiful, and many others. In total, 20 celebrity navigators are slated to participate so far.

The presenting sponsor of the event is Toronto-based hedge fund manager Rosseau Asset Management Ltd., which is also participating as a team in the scavenger hunt. The Rosseau team, led by president and chief investment officer Warren Irwin, has so far raised $46,000.

Investment Executive is also taking part in the event. IE’s team is led by national sales director Ozy Camacho.
