David Feather is the new president and managing director of Russell Investments Canada Limited, the company announced Tuesday.

Feather will work closely with clients and oversee the company’s institutional, consulting and retail businesses.

“I have always admired Russell for its long history of innovation and renowned reputation for investment research expertise. As such, I am honored and excited to be joining the company and look forward to working closely with our clients and partners,” says Feather.

“David is well-known and highly respected in the Canadian investment industry, and we are delighted to have someone of his caliber leading our Canadian operations as we continue to enhance our investment services and commitment to our institutional, consulting and retail clients,” says Andrew Doman, Russell’s global CEO.

Prior to joining Russell Canada, Feather was president of Mackenzie Financial Services Inc. and was responsible for leading the company’s distribution efforts, sales, product management and sub-adviser investment management relationships.

During his professional career, Feather has also worked in the Economic Strategy Group at Ernst & Young and in Corporate and Government Banking at the Bank of Montreal.

Feather holds an MBA from McMaster University and is a director at various charitable organizations, including the Mental Health Partnerships of Canada and the Child Development Institute.

Feather succeeds Irshaad Ahmad who in September 2009 was appointed as managing director of the Russell’s United Kingdom division, after three years of leading its Canadian operations.
