Each week, Investment Executive summarizes notable management shifts across the financial and wealth management industry.

  • Toronto-based wealth services supplier Aviso Wealth Inc. has named Tim Prescott as senior vice-president and head of asset management. As part of the role, he’s also head of subsidiary NEI Investments, the firm’s asset manager. Prescott comes from Canada Life, where his most recent position was senior vice-president of wealth distribution and advisor compliance. He’s worked at firms such as Mackenzie Investments and Fidelity Investments during his career.
  • Effective April 19 and announced this week, CPA Canada has appointed Pamela Steer as its new CEO. Steer succeeds Charles-Antoine St-Jean, who officially stepped down on March 31 after leading the organization for nearly two years. St-Jean noted in a March LinkedIn post that he’d held roles at CPA Canada for five years, and that he appreciated all the work done to support public interest. A release from CPA Canada noted that Steer has worked in the technology and financial services industries for decades, and that she was chosen based on her experience “transforming organizations, building positive cultures [and] promoting sustainability […].”
  • Toronto-based Tradelogiq Markets Inc. (TGI), the operator of visible marketplaces Omega ATS and Lynx ATS, has added two new board members. Concurrent with Royal Bank of Canada acquiring a non-controlling equity ownership position in the company this week, TGI appointed Vimal Patel, head of business development with RBC Capital Markets, as well as John Christofilos, senior vice-president and chief trading officer for AGF Investments Inc.
  • At the end of March, Eric Saarvala joined Raymond James Ltd. as head of corporate sustainability and the Raymond James Canada Foundation as executive director. A note from Paul Allison, executive chairman with Raymond James, highlighted Saarvala’s decades of experience in financial services and strategic philanthropy.
