- Chris Wei is appointed executive vice-president and chief client and innovation officer at Sun Life Financial Inc., a new role designed to focus on client experience strategy. Wei, who will manage the company’s chief sustainability officer, chief marketing officer and corporate communications head, has worked in the insurance and wealth management world for more than 25 years, a release said. He was most recently a chairman with digital-based Blue Insurance Hong Kong.
- Daniel Hankinson will become CFO at HSBC Bank Canada in September, replacing interim CFO Kevin Nichols, vice-president and Canada head of asset liability and capital management. Nichols temporarily replaced Gerhardt Samwell, who left in July. Hankinson joined HSBC in 2001, a release said. He has held various senior roles in Asia and the U.K. His current position is global head of recovery and resolution planning.
- Rozanne Reszel, president and CEO of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund (CIPF), will retire on Dec. 31. At the same time, the CIPF and MFDA Investor Protection Corporation will be rolled into a new joint organization referred to as the new IPF. Reszel has worked at the CIPF for 32 years and has been in her current role since 1998, with a release saying that during her tenure she’s helped the CIPF evolve its model, build on global industry connections and secure significant asset recoveries. The leader of the new IPF is expected to be announced in the third quarter of this year.
