Credit Suisse today announced that it has hired Michael Ryan as head of securities for its investment banking division.

Ryan will be responsible for Credit Suisse’s global securities businesses and will serve as a member of the investment banking division management committee. He will be joining Credit Suisse mid-year and will be based in New York, where he will report to Brady Dougan, CEO of the investment banking division for Credit Suisse.

“Mike will enhance our outstanding management team as we continue to grow our securities businesses aggressively, consistent with our strategy,” said Dougan.

Ryan joins Credit Suisse after an 18-year career at Goldman, Sachs and Co. As a partner and managing director, he has been global co-head of the equity products group with responsibility for all client-related products and services in the equities division at Goldman Sachs. Prior to assuming this role, Ryan held various positions at Goldman, including co-head of global equity derivatives and, prior to that, he worked in the equity capital markets, fixed income and investment banking divisions. Ryan has worked in Goldman’s New York, London, Hong Kong and Tokyo offices. He also served as a member of that firm’s fixed income and equity division joint operating committee and the partnership committee.

“I am convinced that at Credit Suisse, Mike’s insight, drive for excellence, management skills and overall knowledge of the business will enhance and expand upon the success of our securities businesses,” added Dougan.
