Credential Financial Inc. has named Doce Tomic as president and CEO, the national wealth management distribution company of the Canadian credit union system announced Thursday.
With over 20 years financial services experience, Tomic brings a deep understanding of the industry, Credential says.
His career includes 15 years at Royal Bank of Canada in Vancouver and Toronto which led to appointments as president and CEO of Action Direct, director of National RBC Investments, and national head of Wealth Management. In this latter role, he was responsible for leadership of the private counsel, private trust, private banking, Dominion Securities, and Action Direct businesses within RBC, collectively overseeing $150 billion in assets and more than 3,500 people.
For the past several years, Tomic served as chief operating officer of Wellington West Capital and president of Wellington West Asset Management in Winnipeg.
Most recently, he was president of Ticoon Technology, a privately held Canadian technology firm in Toronto.
“Doce brings significant investment experience to Credential,” says Bob Hague, chairman of the Credential Board of Directors. “From his early start as an investment advisor and then branch manager, coupled with his executive experience in wealth management, Doce is well positioned to lead Credential’s growth going forward.”
Tomic sees significant opportunities for credit unions and Credential. “Credit unions are focused on building strong wealth management offerings,” says Tomic. “Credential is uniquely qualified to help credit unions compete for business and increase both share of wallet and market share.”
A native of Vancouver, Tomic returns to the West Coast after many years in Toronto. He joined Credential on Jan. 1.
