The Co-operators Group Ltd. has appointed  Emmie Fukuchi as its new executive vice president and chief digital and marketing officer, effective Jan. 14, 2019, the Guelph, Ont.-based financial co-operative announced Thursday.

Fukuchi joins the organization from Great-West Lifeco Inc., where she was senior vice president of customer experience and marketing for its three life insurance brands. Prior to this, Fukuchi was vice president of marketing innovation, digital and product development for LoyaltyOne, the operator of the Air Miles program.

“Emmie will play a key leadership role with The Co-operators as we embark on our next four-year corporate strategy,” says Rob Wesseling, president and CEO, in a statement. “In addition to overseeing The Co-operators brand, she will lead the continuing development of our digital capabilities to ensure clients are free to choose how, when and where they do business with us.”

Fukuchi completed the Ivey Executive Leadership Program at the University of Western Ontario, and has an honours bachelor of business administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, in Waterloo, Ont.

Fukuchi has volunteered with both Special Olympics and OPTIONS Mississauga for more than 20 years. She is also an avid supporter of women’s leadership initiatives, serving as a professional mentor, speaker and workshop leader.
