The Co-operators Group Ltd. has appointed Kevin Daniel executive vice president and chief client officer, the Guelph, Ont.-based financial co-operative announced Monday.

His appointment is effective Dec. 21.

Daniel has been with the organization since 1986 and a member of the senior management team for the past 15 years. His current role is as executive vice president and chief operating officer for Co-operators Life Insurance Co., and president and chief operating officer of The CUMIS Group Ltd.

In his new role, Daniel will lead The Co-operators’s “client engagement functions, including sales and service, contact centre operations, property and casualty claims and client service operations,” Co-operators says in a news release.

“Kevin is a seasoned and respected leader who has guided our life insurance company through some of its most significant economic challenges — helping The Co-operators become a stronger and more diversified organization,” Rob Wesseling, president and CEO, says in a statement. “He has skillfully led substantial organizational change, while building a strong life insurance offering for our clients and honing our wealth management capabilities. Kevin is well-positioned to ensure our clients continue to receive the industry-leading service they have come to depend on from The Co-operators.”

“I am excited to lead our client engagement area as we enter our next four-year corporate strategy,” Daniel says in a statement. “The Co-operators continually ranks among the best in the industry when it comes to client satisfaction — thanks in large-part to our advisor network serving local communities, and our best-in-class claims and contact centre staff.”

Daniel holds a chartered professional accountant designation and a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Guelph.

Daniel will replace Rick McCombie, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
