The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) at its recent worldwide meeting appointed Kevin Dancey, president and CEO of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) to its board.
IFAC is the worldwide organization for the accountancy profession dedicated to serving the public interest by strengthening the profession and contributing to the development of strong international economies. IFAC is comprised of approximately 160 professional accountancy bodies in 120 countries, representing more than 2.5 million accountants in public practice, education, government service, industry and commerce. Through its independent standard-setting boards, IFAC sets international standards of ethics, auditing and assurance, education, and public sector accounting. It also issues guidance to encourage high quality performance by professional accountants in business.
“This is an important appointment for Canada’s Chartered Accounting profession. We’ll be working more closely with our colleagues in international markets around the world to provide leadership for the profession. Our main objective is to ensure a quality accounting profession and be a key player on policies and standards that will affect accounting bodies worldwide,” said Dancey.
The appointment is for a three-year term with other Board members from countries such as the U.S., U.K., Japan, China and the European Community.
