Bob Christie has been appointed as the new chief executive officer and Superintendent of Financial Services for the Financial Services Commission of Ontario.
The appointment is effective September 6. Christie, who has a PhD in economics from Queen’s University, served as Ontario’s deputy minister of finance between August 2000 and February 2004. Most recently, he was deputy minister of Training, Colleges and Universities, where he also served as deputy from 1999 to 2000. Christie has also served as deputy minister of Intergovernmental Affairs.
Cheryl Cottle will remain as the acting CEO and Superintendent of Financial Services until Christie assumes his position in September.
