The board of governors of the Conseil des fonds d’investissement du Québec (CFIQ), the Quebec voice of The Investment Funds Institute of Canada, announced Monday that Stéphane Blanchette, vice president, finance and operations for Quebec City-based Investia Financial Services Inc. has been elected chairman of the board.
“I intend to build on the legacy of my predecessors, providing thoughtful, fact-based commentary to Quebec regulators and policy makers on all issues impacting the industry and its investors. Continuing to build strong relationships with our partners is essential to ensuring a strong investment sector where investors can realize their financial goals,” says Blanchette, in a statement.
Blanchette succeeds Claude Paquin, president, financial services – Quebec, Investors Group Financial Services,, who has led the board since May 2013. CFIQ’s governors extend thanks to Paquin for his strong leadership over the past three years.
The board of governors has also elected Eric Landry, vice president, investment solutions, Montreal-based Desjardins Investment inc., as its second vice chairman and added the following new members: Tommy Baltzis, president, WhiteHaven Securities; François Bruneau, administrative vice president – investments, Groupe Cloutier; and Gino Savard, president and partner, Mica Financial Services. All appointments take effect Sept.1.
