Cary List will retire from his post as FP Canada’s president and CEO effective June 30, 2021.
List has led FP Canada and its predecessor — the Financial Planning Standards Council — since 2006. Under his leadership, the organization developed the first financial planning practice standards in Canada, published a competency profile for financial planners and launched Financial Planning Week.
“It’s been an incredible privilege to serve as president and CEO of FP Canada over the past decade and a half, and I cannot begin to express how proud I am of this organization and of how far it has come in such a short time,” List said in a statement.
While leading FP Canada, List was a member of the Ontario Securities Commission’s Investor Advisory Panel and the federal government’s steering committee for financial literacy, and also served as president of the board for the Institute for Credentialing Excellence.
“FP Canada has come a long way under Cary’s leadership,” Brett Millard, chair of FP Canada’s board of directors, said in a statement. “His many impressive accomplishments are a reflection of his vision and passion for the profession, and for enhancing the financial well-being of all Canadians.”
FP Canada has engaged Toronto-based Amrop Knightsbridge to begin the search for a new CEO.
