Jean-Luc Gravel has been appointed senior vice president, Canadian equities, of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec.

Gravel has already worked at the Caisse as a financial analyst and was until recently managing director, investment Bbanking, at TD Securities. He will take up his position in July.

Gravel has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Ottawa, is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute and a CFA charterholder, and has been working in the financial sector for more than 20 years, particularly in securities, institutional sales and corporate finance.

François Grenier, executive vice-president, equity markets, announced Gravel’s appointment today.

“With a broad range of experience that has enabled him to work with all portfolio management styles, he will be responsible for establishing a clear vision, guiding the various teams, which specialize by sector and by niche, and ensuring a consistent approach,” said Grenier in a news release.

Gravel said he intended “to draw on the strength of the teams in place to support the implementation of a fundamental approach as well as bottom-up analysis geared more to the medium and long terms, while promoting teamwork to create more effective synergies.”
