BMO Private Wealth Canada has shaken up its leadership ranks for the third time in the past six months, adding leaders from two rival banks and a technology firm.
Meghan Meger, who was appointed sole head of BMO Private Wealth Canada in October 2023, is now senior advisor to BMO Wealth and will retire at the end of the year, according to a LinkedIn post by Kevin Barnes, head of private wealth, North America.
Meger was originally appointed co-head of BMO Private Wealth Canada with Geoff Newton on June 1, 2022. In September 2023, BMO Private Wealth Canada eliminated several roles as the brokerage consolidated its regions to four from six.
In his post, Barnes thanked Meger for her leadership and dedication. Meger will advise Barnes and Deland Kamanga, group head of wealth management with BMO.
Joining BMO Private Wealth is Craig Meeds as head of wealth advice, Canada; Martha Moen as head of operational excellence and growth; and Maarten Jansen as head of North American products and platforms.
Meeds had been vice-president and head of investment management practices and wealth insurance services with TD Wealth since 2018, and had worked with the bank in management roles for the past 18 years.

Jansen is a 29-year veteran of RBC Wealth Management, where he was most recently head of global investments and trading.
Barnes, who himself joined BMO Private Wealth from TD in March 2023 and started his current role in November, praised the three appointees for their experience on both sides of the border and their history of accelerating growth.
The moves are the latest in a long series of changes facing financial advisors with BMO Private Wealth.
Andrew Auerbach, who had led the brokerage since 2018 after replacing Charyl Galpin, retired in 2022 after more than two decades with the bank, with Meger and Newton succeeding Auerbach. (Auerbach has since launched Delisle Advisory Group.)
The brokerage also restructured during the same period, with the bank merging BMO Private Banking and BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. under the banner of BMO Private Wealth Canada and Asia in 2019. The “and Asia” part of the banner was quietly dropped after 2020.
