BMO Harris Private Banking Thursday announced the appointment of Rick Thomson as vice president & market leader for Atlantic Canada.
Thomson will assume leadership of a team of 35 professionals who serve customers through BMO’s Private Banking Offices in Halifax, Moncton and St. John’s.
A Halifax native and MBA graduate from Dalhousie University, Thomson has over 30 years experience with BMO, and was most recently vice-president and regional director of banking for the Greater Toronto division of BMO Harris Private Banking.
“Rick’s extensive knowledge of our business and previous work experience throughout the region make him the ideal individual to lead our growing private banking operations in Atlantic Canada,” says Andrew Auerbach, senior vice president and head of BMO Harris Private Banking.
Thomson is a past president of the Bedford Board of Trade and will sit on the board of the recently established Centre for Family Business and Prosperity at Dalhousie. The Centre will develop and deliver educational and training programs for families in business, their non-family employees and the professionals who serve those families, following BMO’s $1.5 million donation to Dalhousie that will provide operational and core funding to the Centre for the next seven years.
Thompson’s appointment follows BMO’s recent announcement that it plans to launch a new division focused on the ultra-rich and increase the private banking group by 15% in the coming year.
