Michael Lee-Chin, chairman of Berkshire-TWC Financial Group Inc. announced yesterday the appointment of Robert Levis as CEO.
Prior to the appointment, Levis was senior vp, investment banking and corporate development. Levis joined Berkshire in November 2003 when Berkshire entered into a business combination with the TWC Group of Companies Inc., where he was the CEO and successfully led the company through its search for a business combination partner. In 1998, Levis co-founded and was CEO of Altara Securities Inc., a full service investment dealer which he assisted in building and ultimately merging with the TWC Group of Companies Inc.
“Bob is an impassioned leader, able to galvanize team members in the expansion and growth of businesses. Bob and I will work closely together to further enhance Berkshire’s existing strength and stability. Berkshire remains steadfast in its commitment to the independent advisor channel,” said Lee-Chin, in a news release.
Speaking to employees yesterday, Lee-Chin indicated that the appointment of Levis is the next phase of implementing the mandate he announced on July 19.
As part of that mandate, Levis is charged with the task of evaluating the process and potential selection associated with a strategic minority partner as well as strengthening the management team. Levis brings to Berkshire a strong professional and educational background as a corporate securities lawyer and as a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Berkshire has approximately 750 professional advisors administering $12 billion of Canadians’ investment savings.
