The Association of Québec Women in Finance has selected Edmée Métivier, executive vice president of financing and consulting at the Business Development Bank of Canada, as the recipient of its 2010 leadership award.

The award was presented on Thursday evening at the AFFQ’s 5th annual gala in Montréal. The association, which has more than 350 members, promotes the professional advancement of women in the fields of finance and business in Québec and in Canada.

“From seeing her in action over the past 10 years, everyone at BDC already knew what a great leader Edmée is. Now we are very proud to see her recognized as one of the most able and talented women in the financial sector,” said Jean-René Halde, BDC president and CEO. “Edmée is a true woman of action, who has mobilized her team to develop BDC’s potential and provide increased support to entrepreneurs. We heartily congratulate her.”

Métivier has a Master of Arts in Practicing Management from Lancaster University in England. She began her career in 1994 at the Royal Bank Financial Group, where she held a number of operational positions.

She joined BDC in 2000, and is now responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to sustain the growth of BDC Financing, BDC Consulting and Aboriginal Banking. She also oversees BDC’s credit risk management for term loan financing activities.
