Toronto-based Aston Hill Financial Inc. on Thursday announced the appointment of James Werry as president and CEO, effective immediately.
Werry brings his experience as a senior executive in the investment industry to his new role of leading the direction of the Aston Hill’s strategy of becoming Canada’s leading provider of liquid alternative mutual funds.
The majority of Werry’s 34 years in the Canadian investment industry were spent at ScotiaMcLeod where he held a number of progressively senior positions, ultimately becoming managing director and head. After leaving ScotiaMcLeod in 2003, he founded and was CEO of what has become one of Canada’s largest independent private client investment firms, Richardson GMP (formerly GMP Private Client).
“I strongly believe Aston Hill is in a sound position to achieve significant growth within our propriety mutual fund platform under James’ guidance. I wish him all the best in his new role,” says Peter Anderson, Aston Hill’s interim CEO. Anderson is moving to a new role as CEO of Toronto-based CI Financial Corp.
Werry currently sits on the board of Manitou Investment Management Ltd. and Myca Health Inc., and is the past chairman of the foundation board of the Toronto East General Hospital.
