Ottawa-based credit union, Alterna Savings, announced that its board has appointed Robert Paterson as president and CEO of Alterna Financial Group (AFG).
Paterson takes over leadership of AFG, which consists of Alterna Savings and Alterna Bank, effective May 6. He comes to the firm from Aon where he was executive vice president of consumer and affinity. Prior to that, he has more than 20 years of industry experience at various firms, including CIBC, JP Morgan Chase, and McKinsey & Co.
“We welcome Rob’s depth of experience that he brings from across the financial services sector,” says Duncan Munn, Alterna Savings’ board chair. “Rob brings a comprehensive understanding of the credit union sector, an acute focus on the member experience, as well as a broader, global understanding of the financial services industry. We are confident that under Rob’s leadership, Alterna will be well positioned for continued success in the future.”
Paterson has a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario and is
currently director and vice chairman of Advancing Canadian
Entrepreneurship, and former director of Canadian Youth Business
Foundation.
