Greg Pollock will be taking on the role president and CEO of Advocis, The Financial Advisors Association of Canada, as of October 27. The announcement was made today by Teresa Black Hughes, chairwoman of Advocis’ board of directors.

“Mr. Pollock has a unique diversity of experience, including government and advocacy work, strategic planning and financial management. The Advocis board of directors is confident in his abilities to lead this organization,” says Black Hughes.

Pollock brings his more than 20 years of association leadership and financial management experience to lead Advocis.

He is currently General Secretary of the 43,000 member-strong Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA). In this role, he is responsible for all aspects of the organization and management of the provincial association. He has held progressively more senior positions within the OECTA since joining in 1990, including serving as the association’s lobbyist and political liaison at the federal and provincial level. As Deputy General Secretary from 1998 to 2001, he supervised the legislative and financial administration of the organization.

Pollock also has a Master of Laws degree from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University and a Master of Educational Administration from the University of Toronto. As well, he has completed all the course requirements to obtain the certified financial planner designation.
