Toronto-based Women’s Executive Network (WXN) is celebrating International Women’s Day on Wednesday with an open call for nominations for Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards.
WXN’s awards honour the achievements of female leaders in their efforts to mentor and inspire the next generation.
“Current world events have demonstrated just how far and bumpy a road we have in front of us to ensure gender diversity and equity is achieved in all walks of life,” says Sherri Stevens, CEO of WXN, in a statement. “We need to showcase the leaders who are helping to drive positive change and progress, especially in today’s climate.”
Proceeds collected from the nomination fees are pooled into the WXN Foundation’s scholarship fund, which provides $100,000 in entrance-level scholarships across Canada.
WXN also announced the creation of a new scholarship, in partnership with Wilfrid Laurier University. The WXN Strength in Diversity Award for New Canadians, which will offer $25,000 in grants over five years, will be given to newcomers in need of support to pursue post-secondary education.
The nomination period for WXN’s top 100 awards ends May 19.
