Toronto-based Women in Capital Markets (WCM) will honour 15 executives from various segments within the financial services sector for their role in encouraging the advancement of women in Canada’s economy.
The “champions of change” will be recognized at a gala in Toronto on March 3 as a part of WCM’s International Women’s Day celebrations, according to a WCM announcement released on Thursday.
“In the Canadian capital markets there are substantial gaps in the level of female representation in senior management roles,” says Jennifer Reynolds, president and CEO of WCM, in a statement. “The WCM champions of change understand that this comes at a cost to the industry and the Canadian economy and have pushed boundaries to drive change in the financial industry.”
Reynolds adds that the 15 “honorees understand the important economic impact gender-balanced leadership has to Canada and they also demonstrate an ongoing commitment and have delivered pragmatic action to drive diversity and inclusiveness within their organizations.”
