Vancouver-based Voleo Inc. is the only Canadian financial technology (“fintech”) company that has been selected to participate in Dublin-based Accenture PLC’s FinTech Innovation Lab.

Voleo, a mobile-based investment platform that allows multiple investors to form clubs and manage funds collectively, will be participating in this fintech accelerator program in London, U.K., between Jan. 6 and April 7.

“Voleo’s acceptance into the 2016 FinTech Innovation Lab is a tremendous honour and testament not only to the potential of our intellectual property but to the advancements in the Canadian financial technology landscape,” says Thomas Beattie, Voleo’s CEO, in a statement released on Wednesday.

The program allows 15 startups to present their services to senior executives representing some of the world’s major banks, including Barclays Bank PLC and HSBC Holdings PLC, both of London, U.K., as well as Frankfurt-based Deutsche Bank AG, among others.

“Voleo’s participation represents major progression in investment technology,” Beattie adds. “Global banks are identifying our platform as one that bridges the gap of investing through mobile-based user activity which is a meaningful step on the road to international partnerships.”

The technology companies will have access to mentoring from those banking executives as well as workshops that discuss topics such as regulation and industry trends.
