Greystone Managed Investments today announced that chief investment officer Robert Vanderhooft has also been appointed the firm’s president.
Winnipeg native Vanderhooft joined Greystone in 1991 after four years as a U.S. equity analyst with a major Canadian life insurance company.
Hired as a portfolio manager in Greystone’s Canadian equity area, he was promoted to vice president in 1994 and assumed leadership of the team in 1996. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Manitoba.
Greystone also announced that senior vice president Tim Frostad will succeed Vanderhooft as leader of the Canadian equity team. Frostad is an eight-year Greystone veteran, who joined the firm as an equity analyst and then portfolio manager before being promoted to vice president in 1998. Frostad assumes day-to-day leadership responsibility for the group and Vanderhooft will remain part of the Canadian Equity team.
Greystone deputy chairman and CEO, Donald Black is giving up the presidency, describing the move as part of a long-planned transition begun in 1997. Black will devote greater attention to organizational growth and development, as well as client service and marketing.
