The Toronto Financial Services Alliance (TFSA), in partnership with the financial services industry, has organized an election debate on the continued importance of the sector.

“The next government of Ontario needs to ensure that it takes steps to maintain and grow this important sector of the economy,” the TFSA said in a release.

The debate will be held Friday, June 6, in the Members Lounge at Toronto City Hall. The debate starts at 9:00 ET, with registration beginning at 8:45 ET.

Three party representatives have been confirmed for the event: Charles Sousa, Liberal candidate for Mississauga South; Vic Fedeli, Progressive Conservative candidate for Nipissing and Michael Prue, NDP candidate for Beaches – East York.

According to the TFSA, almost 330,000 people are directly and indirectly employed by financial services companies in the Toronto region — making Toronto the second largest financial centre by employment in North America.

The Toronto Financial Services Alliance is a public/private initiative whose mandate is to enhance and promote the long-term competitiveness of Toronto as a top ten global financial services centre.
