TD Bank Group (TSX:TD) employees and retirees from across Canada raised $10.1 million in support of its annual 2010 TD United Way Employee Giving Campaign, the bank said Tuesday.
With the addition of TD’s corporate donations of $3.4 million, TD is donating a record-breaking total of $13.5 million to support communities across the country.
This year’s employee campaign, which ran from November 15 to December 3, resulted in a 44% increase in funds raised from last year, making it TD’s largest donation ever.
“There are no words to describe just how proud I am of TD’s campaign results,” said Ed Clark, group president and CEO of TD Bank Group, who also served as chairman for United Way Toronto’s 2010 Cabinet. “TD employees have always given generously to the communities where we live and work and this year they went above and beyond to raise funds for those who are less fortunate.”
“TD employees have a strong track record of giving back to help build stronger communities,” said Clark. “Since 2007, TD employees have doubled their contribution, with our 2010 total employee donation amount being twice what it was in 2007.”
Since 2000, TD has raised more than $74 million for United Way and other charitable organizations across Canada as part of its annual fundraising campaign for employees and retirees.
