(February 12 – 15:40 ET) – Securicor Canada has acquired the Cash In Transit and automatic banking machine business of Pinkerton’s of Canada Ltd. and Pinkerton du Québec Ltée, a move that will allow the company to consolidate its market share in Quebec and expand its national client base.

According to Len Gateson, CEO of Securicor Canada the acquisition of customers from Pinkerton is of particular importance because it will help the company gain a stronger presence in Quebec, adding significant growth into the operation.

The business being purchased by Securicor includes armoured car services as well as ABM replenishing and servicing for major financial institutions, retail and commercial companies, and some local government operations. The purchase will add about $15 million to Securicor’s $120 million in annual sales, and over 400 employees to its current staff of 2,700.

“Considering we are just approaching our one year anniversary in Canada, we are very pleased with the way the business is developing,” said Gateson. “While we’ve been concentrating on cash services, we are also looking forward to expanding into areas of expertise Securicor has perfected in other global markets, including cash processing and related security services.”

Last March, Securicor purchased the Canadian operations of Loomis Armoured Car Services from Australian-based Mayne Nickless, making Securicor Canada the only Canadian cash services company with nationwide capabilities.
