For the second successive year, Scotiabank is “Bank of the Year in Canada” according to international banking magazine The Banker. The magazine’s 2002 awards will be formally announced in London this evening.

“Winning an award like this for two consecutive years doesn’t just happen. It takes the concerted efforts of a first-class worldwide team dedicated to our customers and communities,” said Peter Godsoe, Chairman and CEO, Scotiabank, in a release.

The award was decided by the magazine’s global editorial team and based on financial performance, technological innovation and appraisal of corporate strategy.

“We selected Scotiabank for its strong overall financial performance,” said Stephen Timewell, Editor of The Banker. “In addition, its international operations, particularly in the Caribbean and Mexico, augur well for future growth potential.”
