Bank of Nova Scotia is the top online banking provider in Canada, according to an analysis of 15 financial institutions by Watchfire GomezPro.

Scotiabank leads the pack, with a score or 7.67, based on its “ability to meet online bankers’ changing needs and electronic responsiveness to customer queries,” according to the Q3 2004 Scorecard report.

Scotiabank reclaimed first place overall in the scorecard with its continuous improvement approach of adding new features and functionality on an ongoing basis, according to the Watchfire GomezPro report.

Among the achievements cited in the Scorecard report, is Scotiabank’s ranking as number one online banking site in terms of ease of use, and the site’s industry leading help and education features.

Watchfire GomezPro scorecards measure the quality of online financial services offerings, with a predominant focus on ease of use, customer confidence, onsite resources, and relationship services.

The scorecard also report the difference in survey results from previous quarters.

Rounding out the top five firms were:

  • Royal Bank, 7.65;
  • Bank of Montreal, 7.48;
  • TD Canada Trust, 7.40; and
  • CIBC, 7.07.
