(December 13 – 12:10 ET) – RBC Insurance has launched its home and auto insurance products in New Brunswick today, becoming the first Canadian bank-owned insurance company to bring individual home and auto insurance products to customers across the country.

The insurance products, which provide protection on most houses, condominiums, rental and seasonal properties, cars, minivans, motorcycles, RVs, snowmobiles and recreational boats, are available to consumers directly over the telephone. Current government regulations prevent banks from selling or promoting home and auto insurance through their branches.

In the case of an emergency, RBC Insurance customers can reach a claims
advisor 24 hours a day, seven days a week through a toll-free number, from
anywhere in Canada and the United States.

The home and auto insurance products were first launched in Ontario in 1998, rolled out to customers in Western Canada and Quebec earlier this year, and only last month to residents of the territories and Atlantic provinces, except New Brunswick.
