RBC Financial Group – through a Sydney-based subsidary of RBC Capital Markets – has become the only Canadian bank participant of the Australian Stock Exchange.
The move to make RBC Securities Australia Pty Ltd. a participant on the ASE is part of RBC’s strategy to provide a full, global mining service to its clients, and builds on the firm’s heritage and specialisation in natural resources. The Sydney Equity team focuses on the mining sector, covering domestic and major international mining stocks.
“We believe our new direct trading and settlement capability in Australia gives us considerable opportunity for expansion given that already buoyant conditions within the sector are anticipated to improve further over the next few years,” said Peter Main, director, RBC Capital Markets. “We have developed a strong global presence in the natural resources sector for the past eight years, and are well positioned to assist clients needs around the world.”
