Raymond James on Thursday announced two key additions to its energy research team. Veteran energy research analysts, John Mawdsley and Stephen Calderwood, will join the brokerage firm effective March 31.
Mawdsley will cover be covering Canadian companies related to oil sands and heavy oil, ranging from large cap leaders to emerging small cap companies. He expects to launch his initial coverage by the end of May.
Most recently, he worked for FirstEnergy Capital Corp. where he established a reputation as one of the country’s leading experts on the Canadian Oil Sands. In the 2002 Brendan Woods survey, his reputation for excellence was reflected by a #1 ranking for the quality of his written reports and #2 ranking for quality of investment ideas.
Mawsdsley earned a B.Sc in Geology from the University of Alberta, as well as an MBA from the University of Calgary. He started his career in the oil & gas industry in 1984 as an exploration and development geologist, and moved into the investment industry in 1997.
He will be covering Canadian companies related to oil sands and heavy oil, ranging from large cap leaders to emerging small cap companies. John expects to launch his initial coverage by the end of May and be marketing to our clients in June.
Calderwood will be covering junior and intermediate oil and gas producers.
Previously Stephen was with Salman Partners where he has been covering the oil and gas industry for the past five years. At Salman, his coverage has ranged from senior producers to promising growth companies.
Stephen holds a B.Sc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta, as well as an MBA from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. He began his career in the industry as an engineer at BP Canada, and later held positions at Talisman and NCE before joining Salman Partners in 1998.
