Private equity firm Penfund said Tuesday that it has added three professionals to the team responsible for investing the $460 million recently committed to Penfund Capital Fund IV by Penfund’s institutional partners.
Toronto-based Penfund announced that Jeremy Thompson has joined the firm as a partner. Thompson began his career in the leveraged finance unit of Goldman Sachs and subsequently spent 16 years working at leading buyout firms in New York and Toronto.
Penfund is also announced that Michelle Winters and Nicole Fich have joined the firm as associates. Winters previously worked in the investment banking industry in Toronto and London. Fich has prior work experience with a leading Canadian buyout firm, an institutional investor in Toronto and an investment bank in the United States.
Penfund is Canada’s oldest independent private equity firm, having been established in 1979. Throughout its history, Penfund has managed capital for leading Canadian institutions, predominantly pension funds, and has invested about $2.5 billion in over 220 Canadian and American companies. Penfund is owned by its partners, all of whom are employed in the business.
