The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario has launched a new Web site to provide up-to-date information on its initiatives to help protect the public interest in the post-Enron era.
“Investors have a real interest in finding out for themselves what we are doing to protect the public,” said Institute vice president of public affairs Peter Varley in a news release.
The site supports a broader communications campaign, including speaking engagements for Institute President and CEO Brian Hunt and other spokespeople, a province-wide advertising campaign with the theme “Ontario CAs: Protecting the Public Interest in the Post-Enron Era”, and earned media activities, among other initiatives.
Highlights of the site include background on the Institute’s regulatory processes and information on developments affecting the profession. A media room contains latest news, backgrounder and communications materials, speeches and contact information for media seeking spokespeople and CA experts on a wide range of financial and business topics.
The interactive site allows users to complete all transactions online — downloading Institute publications and forms; members paying dues; employers looking to hire a CA; students interested in the CA qualification process; media wanting to subscribe to news updates; or business people interested in professional development courses, to note just a few.
The new Web site is located at www.icao.on.ca.
