Northern Financial Corp. is expanding into Calgary and beefing up its investment banking operations in Toronto.
Northern Securities Inc., a subsidiary of Northern Financial, will open an office in Calgary in September. It has hired Trevor Conway as vice president, investment banking, Western Canada effective August 1. Conway has an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, and an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Alberta. Conway has been in the securities business for nine years.
In Toronto, Northern Securities has hired three investment bankers: Ian Kennedy, Peter Clausi, and David LaFrance, effective July 15. Kennedy, Clausi and LaFrance were formerly with Helmsdale Financial Inc., a Toronto-based limited market dealer. They will continue to advise small cap companies on financings, mergers and acquisitions, and restructurings. The firm now has 11 investment bankers.
Northern Securities has also hired Geoff Salmon as director capital markets. He was formerly with a merchant bank.
